As Residential Programs and Services (RPS) prepares to open a new housing complex at Tenth and Union Streets, plans for renovations at existing buildings are being finalized. The board of Trustees has approved plans to renovate Briscoe Residence Center and Tulip Tree Apartments.
A two year renovation project at Briscoe Residence Center begins in May. Updates will convert current student rooms into four person suites, which will include two bedrooms, a shared living room, and bath room. The exterior entrances and awing will also be reconstructed. There will be two phases of the construction project with renovations to begin at Briscoe Shoemaker in May and end in August 2011.The second phase will include Briscoe Gucker and the Chill Water Plant, which is scheduled to begin in May 2011 and end in August 2012.
Tulip Tree apartments will undergo a complete renovation of every apartment to include new plumbing, heating and cooling system, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, floor covering, sprinkler system, exterior windows, paint, card access security system, and exterior landscaping. Approximately 60 percent of the units will be closed September 2010 through December 2011. The remaining units are expected to complete by the spring of 2013.
